Duco Cement

Duco Cement by Devcon is a versatile household cement that is commonly used for attaching feathers to wooden arrows. It is a multi-purpose adhesive that is water resistant and dries quickly, with a tough and clear finish. However, it is important to note that Duco Cement is highly flammable both in its cured and uncured states.

When applying Duco Cement to non-porous surfaces, it is recommended to coat each surface with one layer of cement, then hold or clamp the surfaces together until the cement sets, allowing it to dry fully. On porous surfaces, apply a coat of cement to each piece and allow it to dry. Once dry, apply a second coat and again hold or clamp the pieces together until the cement sets properly. It is advisable to use removable tape on surfaces where you do not want the cement to get on. Be sure to remove the tape before the cement sets completely.

Duco Cement is suitable for bonding a variety of materials including wood, china, leather, glass, paper, ceramic, and metal. However, it is not recommended for use on polyethylene or polypropylene plastics. The adhesive has different tensile strengths depending on the materials being bonded: 200 psi for glass to glass, 1200 psi for wood to wood, and 700 psi for metal to metal.

It is important to remember that Duco Cement is flammable, so it should be kept away from heat, sparks, and open flames at all times. Additionally, it should not be used on repairs that will come into contact with food-related items to avoid any potential contamination.
